Below is a link on the Biodiversity of Ireland website in relation to the above invasive species (Asian Clam) which can now be found in Carrick-on-Shannon and Lough Derg which originally was found in the Barrow system.

The I.F.I. have included this particular invasive species in its list of 13 priority invasive species to tackle. The I.F.I. are very worried about this particular species as it has the potential to inflict irreversible damage to ecosystems it inhabits. So it's important that anglers are aware of this species, what it looks like and to report its wherabouts immediately to the relevant authorities if found. All the information one needs is included on this website including a poster you can download.
