Charity Event in Aid of Friends of Ireand

Keady & District Angling Club recently held a 24hr charity pike event in aid of Friends in Ireland. Club member Aidan McKenna is heading to South Africa in February 2011 to assist communities care and support Orphans and Vulnerable Children through there community development programme. Club members wanted to help Aidan with his fundraising efforts and contributed 1200 euro for the cause. Over the course of the 24hr hour event, lots of fish up to 14lb were caught, weighed and quickly released to fight another day. Aidan would like to thank all the club members and the local people of Keady for their genoriosity. He would also like to thank Henry's Tackle Shop in Dublin for kindly sponsoring the dead bait and the prizes. Incidentially, 3 of the doubles landed were all landed on smelt provided by Henry's Tackle Shop. The prizes went as follows:

Heaviest Pike - Mickey McKenna 14lb
Second Heaviest Pike - Damien Lee 13lb 08oz
Heaviest Bag - Paddy McKenna 22lb
Smallest Fish - Malachy Dillon 5lb

Junior Education Event

Keady & District Angling Club recently held an education morning followed by junior event. It was fished over two sections U-13 & U-18 on a heaviest day bases. The criac was good with the young anglers and while there wasn't many big pike landed, the small pike that showed on the day provided great sport for all that attended. The top anglers on the day were as follows:

U-18 Section winner Sean McCooey; 2nd Harry McCooey
U-13 Section winner Patrick Mone; 2nd Dylan McKenna

The Club would like to thank Dominic Donnelly of Borderline Tiles, Middletown for the kind sponsorship of the event and Ivan Boyd of The Tackle Box in Keady for sponsoring tackle vouchers
