I dont think that too many anglers from Dublin will be going to comps or pleasure fishing tomorrow, Its 1 am and there is around 3 inches of snow and its still coming down

It appears that snow is not too bad in Cavan. There is a boat competition on Gowna with nearly 20 boats out.

Myself and Godfery put off our planned trip today because of the weather.

Hi JC,

We fished Barnagrow. 18 anglers turned out on the day, around 25 pike were nabbed to just under 10lbs. The top 3 were;

1st Colin McAllorum 4 pike for 21-12
2nd Paddy Burke 3 pike for 11-10
3rd Ian Church 3 pike for 10-7

The water was well up which made getting around the lake quite tricky, I spent a lot of time up to my neck in the lake as usual, but as you can see from the results things didn't work out the way I had hoped.

Not a bad result for Barnagrow despite the pressure it has been under over the last few years.

Didnt think Barnagrow was under any pressure as most thought that it was completely devoid of pike.

It was under pressure by foreigners over the last few years. That what I meant!

Even 6 or 7 years ago I dont think that it was producing. Twenty plus years ago it was a very good pike fishery with some twenties and an odd thirty being caught. I think there was a bad pollution incident and pike fishing went downhill quickly.

Although we had a few fish up to 10lbs the fishing was extermly difficult, large areas of the lake are quite difficult to get at and I can safely say that if I had known that the Foreigners had been bashing the lake over the last few years the club would have given Barnagrow a wide berth.

I can safely say that it is a lake that won't be on our list again anytime soon.
