We should soon have a bye law in place for the harbour on Ramor. Most of you will know that at certain times of the year the harbour at Ramor gets absolutely stuffed with coarse fish and that they are subjected to severe poaching activities. There have been many reports of anglers fishing there and once their keepnet is stuffed with fish a call is made on their mobile and a van arrives. Very quickly the full keepnet goes into the back of the van and an empty one comes out. The van is gone within a minute and the angler(s) start filling the next keepnet.
The new bye law will make the harbour area catch and release only and keepnets and any other form of fish holding containers will be banned.
I understand that the Dept have almost finalised drafting the bye law and that the Minister will quickley sign it into law.
